SOCCER: A battle royale saw Bunbury Catholic College take on Manea Senior College at Bunbury’s Soccerdrome.

Bunbury Catholic College started strongly and could easily have been two goals up in the first ten minutes.

Relying on long-ball clearances and dropping long-balls into forward areas, Bunbury Catholic College took a  1-0 lead into half time.

But the second half bought a rally from Manea who passed well out of defence to create scoring opportunities.

They began to dominate possession in the second half and leveled the score.

A late penalty gave Manea a 2-1 victory.

The 99 ATAR club has a new South West member

It was a morning of surprise for one Bunbury student after he discovered he had made it in to the exclusive 99 ATAR club.

For 17-year-old Manea Senior College student, Jon Kennedy the academic world is now his oyster after he achieved an impressive 99.10 ATAR.

“I was pretty shocked but pretty happy too – I’ve got a trainee-ship starting in January and I’ll be doing a Certificate III in Information Technology ,” he said.

The South-West graduate is still not sure what he wants to do at university but is looking forward to a break and is relieved the pressures of exams are now behind him.

Manea Senior College principal Rod Rykers said Jon’s achievement was well deserved with a full 6 ATAR course load in Year 12 and daily travel from his home in Greenbushes.
